Lhakpa Sonam Sherpa was running rented lodge called International Foot Rest lodge in Namche for two years. He started Sherpa Mail Service with friend RK Sherpa for the people to ease the mail delivery from Kathmandu to the remote regions of Khumbu. He also founded the Namche Youth Club and started the first environmental cleaning campaign in the village raising public awareness for several years in the capacity of Secretary of the club. The same year he became a photographer with a small Rollei camera presented by Jon Fleming. Started the research work for Sherpa Culture conservation and the Sherpa’s contribution in the mountain climbing record. He studied black and white photography with his friend Basanta Shrestha.
